VISIT THE DISPLAY OF SONGS OF THE EARTH
25 May 2010
Earlier this spring, schools across Berkshire participated in a performance of ‘Songs of the Earth’. There were 11 songs for the choirs to learn, with many choosing to illustrate their performances with dance and hand-crafted banners.
It was such a success, that Bracknell Regeneration Partnership is proudly hosting a display of 15 of the beautiful banners in Princess Square. The display will be on show for the summer, so visitors can enjoy the efforts of the schools involved.
‘Songs of the Earth’ saw 700 Infant, Junior and Primary school pupils provide two outstanding performances to a packed house. Members of the audience included Cllr Bob Wade, who commented: “The effort put in by the pupils and staff was exemplary. This event will be well remembered by so many as a great evening out.”
‘Songs of the Earth’ is a Cantata composed by Lin Marsh which is adapted from the Hans Christian Andersen story of the Emperor and the Nightingale.
Helen Barnett, marketing manager, Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, added: “Bracknell Regeneration Partnership is committed to supporting the community and we wanted to display these fantastic banners so that everyone can appreciate the hard work that went into creating these fantastic pieces of work.”
